Winners were selected from a total of 51 highly competitive essays by a committee of faculty, students, and staff. In choosing the winning essays, the committee considered the overall authenticity and creativity of the essay’s message in addition to how well the essay represented the purpose of general education and its importance to both the UConn curriculum and the writer’s own development.
