Catalog Copy: Chem 270W Technical Communications. First or second semester. Three credits. ENGL 105 or 110 or 111 or 250.

W Criteria: Chem 270W requires the writing of a major paper (12-15 pp), a poster presentation, and a talk on a research topic. There are smaller assignments writing a report on a chemical, a description of a research project, and a paper on a chemical issue directed toward a community group. Half the course grade is earned by the major paper, poster, and talk. Each written contribution, the major paper, the chemical report, the research project description, and the chemical/community issue is corrected by the instructor and at least one other class member, returned to the student, and resubmitted after one week. The class cannot be passed without passing the W component.
