Intersession General Education Courses
Following action of the University Senate Spring 2005, approval from GEOC is required for previsouly approved general education courses to be offered in intensive sessions of four weeks of less. Courses are likely to be taught differently when condensed to 3-4 weeks as compared to the semester and our goal is to ensure that these changes leave the course consistent with its inclusion in the general education curriculum. This may be of particular concern for W courses, where there may be insufficient time to permit the required cycles of writing and revision.
If your department is interested in teaching a general educaiton course in an intensive session of four weeks or less, please complete the Intersession Curricular Action Request Form. Courses may be approved, provisionally approved, or not approved for teaching in the intensive session. Courses that receive provisional approval MUST submit an Intersession Evaluation Form before the course may be scheduled again. The documents noted in this paragraph are listed below. Note: Gen Ed courses not approved for intensive session teaching MAY NOT be scheduled with CCS for either the Wintersession or May terms.
